How Does an "E-book" Differ from a Printed Book?

An "e-book" or "electronic book" is delivered or downloaded in electronic form.

Many people read the e-book on their computer screen without printing it out and unlike many other suppliers we do not lock the book to prevent you printing off a copy, print as many as you need.

When you purchase the e-book, you'll receive a URL that you'll click on, initiating a download of the file onto your computer. Depending upon the speed of your connection and the size of the e-book, this can take a few seconds to a few minutes to complete.

The file is in PDF format, so to read it you'll need the free Adobe Acrobat PDF Reader, which is probably already installed on your computer.

Once you've saved the e-book file, double click on the filename to open it. If it opens, that means you already have Acrobat Reader installed on your computer. If it doesn't open, you need to download a free copy of Acrobat Reader.

They'll give you instructions on how to install Acrobat Reader on your computer and is very easy to do.

If your e-book comes in a file that ends with the suffix .zip (for my larger e-book or e-book/combined audio book files), you'll need to unzip or uncompress the file. The file would have been compressed to make it smaller and therefore quicker for you to download.

Once you save the file, when you double click on it, it should open and offer to save the uncompressed copy. That means you already have the right utility program installed in your computer. If not, first, download a file compression program such as WinZip or PKZip from Download.com (it is FREE) and use that to uncompress the file. Then open it for reading with Acrobat Reader.

Most books and other downloadable products make use of these utilities and so it's handy to have them in place anyway as you will find that you use them often.

Please remember, we are here to help you. If having downloaded the product you are still not sure what to do, drop an email to the email address given you at order confirmation and we will be pleased to help out.
